Switching pictures from my old phone to my new Droid

Hi all, first post. I just got a Droid X I am a long time blackberry user. I have a lot of images that are still on the memory card from my BB. However, these images have been saved as x.jpg.rem (x being the file name). Because of this they show as unknown types on my Droid and when I attempt to remove the .rem on my computer it shows as a corrupted file. Does anyone have any clue how I can recover these files to be able to use them on my Droid or am i pretty much sh*t out of luck?? Any ideas or help please!!!!

Howdy and welcome to the forums.

As far as your pix they are showing up as jpeg.rem because they are encrypted. You prolly have to put your card back in your BB and turn off the encryption and then do a battery pull to reset.

Hi So to start off the reason your seeing your picture files with a file extention of ".jpg.rem" is because your BB's media card was set to "Encryption Mode" Now you will really only be able to fix this if you can still use your blackberry. What you need to do is on your blackberry go to "Options" -> "Media Card" -> "Encryption Mode" and change that to "None" This will stop encrypting pictures on the device now to decrypt your pictures already on the device to be used on other devices (Aka your new Droid X! ) you have to Goto "Media" -> Explore Now select the picture/file you want to decrypt (This is one at a time, im sorry if you have many pictures its just gonna take some time ) Then 1. Press the "Menu" Key 2. Press the "M" key (This higlights Move) 3. Click the Trackball 4 Press the "Menu" Key Again 4. Press the "M" key Again (Highlighting Move for a 2nd time) 5. Click the Trackball. This will move the file to the same place (Haha isnt that tricky) but in the process decrypt it to just .JPG

    Hope This Helps!

Uhm. If possible just borrow a friends? It wont mess theirs up so they shouldnt worry. OR if your real crazy ya know. Just go up to Verizon and either ask them to do it or use one of their lovely dumbie Units. I dont think it matters if they are different phones. If it does. Yepp Up River. Lacking Paddle my friend.

Can you upload and PM me a couple of the pics? I'll see if I can find a way to change them for you.
They can be of whatever as long as they are in that format.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

Did you get your issue resolved - and if it was a work around other than what was listed / suggested - care to share - trust me, it might help someone else in the same boat down the road...

I got it figured out, but the only way to do it was to literally go picture by picture on a friends BB and unlock each photo
