    Correct me if I'm wrong but couldnt I flash a rom like say CWM for example to the phone just as easy and still get my files I need plus achieve my goal of reroot/flashROM which was what I was trying to do to begin with?

    cwm is a custom recovery not a rom.

    edit: cwm is needed to flash custom roms, but you need a working rom to install cwm with a bootstrap

    So I would not be able to put anything else except the out of box ISO on it?

    Ok I see what your saying now. I'm still stuck without contacts and have to use third party phone and messing apps thank google for voice though. I'm going to attempt to burn the boot image again tonight. I've tried two different programs but neither one gave me the right file so I think the website I used gave me a faulty file. It says droidx(blahblahblah).621.iso.crdownload once I get it to burn. But from what I hear you are supposed to have a file that says boot if it is done correctly.

    'crdownload' means file was not complete
    you should alway
    s Verify that your download is complete with MD5/SHA-1 Hash Checksums

    if you can root and install bootstrap, you can flash a custom rom in cwm
    then flashing sbf stock rom would not be required unless you want stock again

    Rooted. Custom ROM?

    Does anyone know the best way to instal s custom rom? I am rooted with .621 using a sbf from cd. Any ideas? Cannot get into recovery. I would love to have a nandroid backup also.
