    Missing Icons from Home Screen

Just picked up a used DX for my Girlfriends son. He does a lot of gaming and has been having an issue when he closes a game and occasionally during other times. Once he closes the game, the bottom row of icons with the exception of the one icon on the far right are missing. The only way to get them back is to reboot the phone.

I saw one post where someone suggested long pressing in the area and choose launcher. I havent tried it yet and im wondering if this is a known issue with some DX's or not so much. I have a similar issue with my DX but im running the Vortex ROM and it only happens once in a great while. His phone is all stock.

Try cache wipe, that's where I would start. Or reflash your rom over itself. If the apps are on the sdcard, it could be a read issue.
    Cwm, wipe cache for yours.

    Power the phone down
    Hold power and home
At the Android, push both the volume keys at the same time
Scroll to wipe cache, select with the camera button
After that's completed, select reboot... For stock

This maybe an issue of not having enough RAM resources. I sometimes see that the Android OS would force stop the launcher or not refresh the home screen because of low memory. Just not much RAM in Droid X, that simple. Which explains why this would happen after playing game/s. Android OS does its best to manage the memory resources. But it is not perfect. Which is why I use Autostarts app to control what gets auto started in the background and what doesn't. This helps in huge way. But at a point just resetting the device, carefully choose what apps to install, while using Autostarts to control what auto starts and runs in the background is the best option.
Newer devices have that 2GB of RAM and Jelly Bean's Butter Project helps to solve this problem.

    Thanks Guys,
The issue is more prevalent on this new DX, than it is on mine. Isnt there and app that releases the memory that was used by a previously closed app? I looked at an app called Fast Reboot, which doesn't actually reboot the phone but closes and restarts all core and user processes. Doesn't sound like the optimum solution. I guess if its a memory issue, i should be able to have a look to see how much memory is in use when the problem occurs.

I use fast reboot once a week, never had a negative result and it's nice to see how much I gain, with my setup, 45-60mb. Tells me things shut down like it's supposed to,
