Crash-o-matic DX

My X has always crashed here and there. But lately, it's 4-8 times per day I have to do a battery pull. The notification light is still flashing so the unit has power. Not sure where to start with this one. Thanks.

The usual questions would be:
added any new software lately (including upgrading existing apps)?
any physical things with the phone, such as dropping or getting damp?

I'm fairly reproducibly able to induce an auto-reset by using graphics-intensive apps (games, Angry Birds) for an extended period, but thats not what you're describing, I don't think.

have you ever done a factory reset, to see if performance improved? I'm *not* suggesting that unless you've got everything already backed up, which to the best of my knowledge means it has to be rooted, and something like Titanium Backup is used (there are others, that one comes to mind quickly).

And are you rooted? Rom installed and if so which? Android version?

I'm rooted and running Liquid ICS rom. I have TiBu installed. The weird thing is that the phone essentially blacks out with no responsiveness, even though it's still powered up (soft keys lit and LED flashing) but is unable to snap out of it. The battery jumps from 78% to 46%, so I wonder if that's possibly an issue or a symptom?

I had the same symptoms sometimes after installing a rom on boot manager, but it was always right after flashing so a reflash fixed it. I always assumed something didn't install right. Not sure why yours would do it all of the sudden.

Have you changed themes, new apps, upgrades around the time it started? Those are usually good suspects.

If it were me, I'd start basic, wiping cache. If that doesn't work reflash the rom (no data wipes) to see if a file got corrupted along the way. Then there is always a clean install which I do every so often anyway.

I was on Liquid 3.2.1. And had the same thing, restore CM7 n still getting it. Someone suggested a new battery bc mine r def old, but I'm trying to find solid OEM batteries to buy tho. Will try full wipe since I've tried everything else...

Good idea. I may just wipe mine with an s3 or Nexus 5.

It always happens while it is sleeping, or on standby with the screen off. Then a call, a text, an unlock or a charger unplug will be the typical things that trigger it.
