Yeah if you got two solid years out of it I'd say that's pretty good. You should be able to get a new battery for pretty cheap now a days.

My DROIDX battery is over 2 years old, and battery lasts for about a day. Really depends on what you have running. K9 mail is a major user of battery on my phone.
I also use Juice Defender Beta.

I noticed a spot in the middle of my screen that looked wet. My original Motorola BH5X battery (mfg: 7/2010) has started bulging slightly in the middle, and is putting slight pressure on the screen. I have a silicone case, so I can leave the battery door not fully shut to reduce this pressure.
Time to get a new battery...

My OEM battery lasted about 1 year too, I purchased a new OEM one on ebay for just a few bucks shipped, I had bad luck with the off brand batteries from ebay sellers, they just do not last but are cheap and better than nothing when on the road with no charger. It has been about another year by now and this battery is still ok.
    OTA GB.

Which makes me wonder... what about all those new Motorola (and other) phones with non-removable batteries? What happens after 2 years?

Bad stuff lol. That is why I refuse to buy a phone without a removable battery. Luckily when my upgrade was up the best phone of the moment (GS3) has a removable battery.

For a bit more info battery tech has improved some as far as longevity of battery (not how long a specific mAh of battery will last but lifespan) so you can expect them to last slightly longer than the DX battery. Most phones without a removable battery can also be cracked open with a bit of work and the battery replaced, although it may take a bit of soldering or otherwise (depends on the specific device) but its most definitely not as easy as the pop-off back door it could be.

A merchant on Amazon sent me a BH6X SNN5893A instead of a BH6X SNN5880 battery. I'll have to return it and keep looking for a SNN5880 or get a BH5X.
