@Shadow, the error was "Error verifying code group 31." There was probably more to the error, and it sucks that I don't have it all written down. But, I don't have access to the PC with RSD Lite right now to recreate the error.
I was using a motorola USB too.
What SBF were you using, system version wise?
1FF-p3a_shadow_cdma_shadow-user-2.3.4-4.5.1_57_DX8-51-120111-test-keys-signed-Verizon-US.sbf
That's an sbf for Ntelos, are you on a milestone x or did you just use the milestone x hack for root? If you are on a verizon DX use the .621 file from here https://sites.google.com/site/motosbf/droid-x-sbf-files
It's just a thought since .621 can be rooted now and can flash just about any gingerbread/2nd init rom.

[ROOT] Framaroot, a one-click .apk to root watch Video
I have verified it works with these Motorola devices running android 2.3.4
Droid 2 (a955), Droid 2 Global (a956), R2D2 (a957), & Droid X (MB810)

Thanks. Yeah, I bet that's where I got confused. I used the milestone x hack to root back when that was the only option. So, I'll go back to stock with that sbf you linked to, then root again. Since I do not have a PC around, just macs now that I'm at home instead of the office, can I just do the linux boot disc to go back to stock?
ezsbf should work on a mac
Linux solution to your Windows/RSD lite problems
if you use 602 version, you should be able to take ota, to 621

How to burn an .iso on mac
and boot from cd
Boot your Mac from CD, DVD, external drive, or USB flash drive
Quote:
easiest way to boot to any device other than a Mac’s internal hard drive is to press and hold the Option key immediately after hearing the Mac startup chime. Continuing to hold this button down will bring up a menu where you can select a disc or drive to boot from. Use the keyboard arrows to choose your boot device, then press the Enter key. The computer will start up from the chosen volume, but bear in mind performance will likely be much slower than when you normally operate your Mac. This is especially true of USB flash drives.
Rather than hold the Option key, you could instead just press & hold the C key if you’re booting from a CD or DVD disc. This will bypass the selection menu and immediately start from the disc. It won’t work for USB and FireWire drives, though.
or flash with linux or mac with sbf_flash opticaldelusion.org
