web is draining battery

Does any one know why the using the internet is killing my battery so fast? I can talk for a long time, send tons of texts, play games all I want and all with out complaint. As soon as I hit the browser button things change. With a completely charged battery I get on the internet and in 10-15 minutes my battery is totally dead! What is going on?! Please help.....

How old is your battery? When I surf the web heavy I'm lucky to get more than an hour and a half, two hours tops.

The battery is a year old. Id love to be able to use the web for that long! Nothing else is draining the battery, just the web.

I'm a relative newbie at the DX but I'd start with replacing the battery. A year is about long enough if you are a heavy user (although I'm sure someone will argue this one). The new batteries can be had for less than $5 on Amazon. I'm a damn heavy user and I can see a difference in my batteries after 5-6 months. But I use my DX as a pseudo computer when I'm away from the house. Heavy Internet, streaming video, streaming audio, video transcoding, torrents, etc. I go thru a lot of charge cycles in a day.
I will say that when I switched to miui (or maybe it was vortex) I noticed a big jump in battery life. Using akop ics and it hits the battery pretty hard for me.

Thanks I will give that a try. Im not gonna lie....those last couple sentences went right over my head lol....

Sorry about that. Just know that I do a lot of semi technical stuff on my phone but after I rooted my phone and installed custom roms I found a few that offered better battery life.
