GPS Issue

My old Droid X phone broke so my brother in law gave me another Droid X until our upgrade. I geocache and use the live-geocache app. My old DroidX worked great on the map feature and the GPS was very accurate. This DroidX I have now is off by miles. I think it is using cell towers to pinpoint me. How can I get the GPS to work like the old phone? I ran GPS Test app and I am getting 8-9 satilites.

Don't know what rooted means so I doubt it. Tried the tape and two apps from the other thread and didn't work. Although we have some bad storms in the area right now so I will try again later.

GPS might just be going bad, but if you are getting 8-9 satellites I can't imagine that's the issue. I would try another app that uses GPS to see if they work (mytracks, google maps, mapquest, strava all access the GPS and are free). If those work then it might be an issue with the app you are using. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling it.
