cant tether, hotspot, foxfi...

So im new to the x, just had to get something cheap to sell my razr as im leaving the country soon. I got the x, rooted it, and was able to use FoxFi for wireless on my laptop. That stopped working, so I tried the usb tether which gave me an error. Hotspot started doing the same. Is there a setting I need to change to get it working? Im running stock 621 right now, I just need to use the wireless to run my laptop for emailing resumes and such. Thanks in advance!

I've always used wireless tether on the X and never had problems with it

With either tether or Hotspot, it just says error after activating. I managed to get the Hotspot to work last night, but it went straight to the Verizon page saying I needed to pay. Is there an sqlite hack like for the razr?

Probably need to flash the Wugfresh patch. Its under the Gingerbread development and hacking. That will get rid of the Verizon screen on the PC. I always use WIFI tether, did you go into settings and make sure it was on the correct device profile?
