tethering Nexus 7 to droid X

I have sucessfully tethered my droidx to my laptop using PDAnet, I am contemplating buying the Nexus 7, which has a micro USB port, is it possible I could tether it to my droidx? I am thinking not since the PDA net software is designed for a Microsoft to Droid connection. Is there a way to do this with an android device tethered to another android device?

I too have the Nexus 7.

    I have both rooted.

I've tried open garden, foxfi and wifi tether to tether.

Once connected, I get a 3G hotspot detected pop up in the top bar, and my signal is dropped. I have to reboot phone to get it back.

If I try to get online, some text will tell me that this phone is not set up as a wifi hotspot. I've used this phone as a wireless hotspot for a while now with no issues. Why now?

How can I bypass this Verizon crap? Can I use titanium backup to get rid of something?

What's up chaos, are you stock rooted or running a rom? Never had a problem with wifi tether on the dx .but if your just running stock you'll need to flash a patch

    tap'd from the Gnex

Hey, I think I fingered it out. I had to install the proxy add on to foxfi. Seemed to work.

    Running stock everything, rooted.

This might be a temporary thing, so it's nice to get many opinions.

    It's called foxfi addon.

But I lose signal all the freaking time. Not wifi from the phone.. But 3G signal. Where I DON'T lose signal without foxfi running.

    I don't get it.

Yeah, Foxfi only works in Bluetooth for some reason and if I try another wifi tether, my Nexus7 doesn't see it. So I assume its the phone (CM9).

Edit: Wi-Fi tethering doesn't work with cm9 right now.

You can now use the mobile hotspot app as Verizon and the FCC lifted this block earlier today.

Verizon Officially Can't Force You To Pay $20 For Tethering Anymore
The FCC and Verizon put an ongoing dispute to rest today when the carrier agreed to allow it's customers to use tethering apps with its data plans. You're damn right! Until now, Verizon worked with Google to block tethering apps from being downloaded to Android devices from Google Play. The company instead demanded that customers who wanted to tether pay a $20 per month fee—including users who had a capped data plans. Turns out this isn't just asinine, it violates an FCC regulation, which requires Verizon "to allow customers to freely use the devices and applications of their choosing." Verizon also accepted a $1.25 million fine. Booya Verizon. Booya. [FCC via GIgaOm via Ars Technica]
