Back Button Sticking? Maybe? Maybe Not?

I have recently noticed that my Droid X back button seems to be acting funky. One day last week, it just stopped working , I did a battery pull and all was well again. A day or two later, I'm on Facebook, I hit the back button to go back (of course) and my browser (Dolphin Mini) asks if I want to exit. I click cancel. It then proceeds to pop up at least nine more times so I just go ahead and hit exit to close it out. This keeps happening! [I've emailed Dolphin to see if they know what's up.] Also, when I just want to open an app, any one I have, my phone will act as if I have suddenly hit the back button and return me to my home screen. It happens in Go SMS frequently during convos by completely exiting from what I'm replying to and sending me back to the Home screen like nothing happened.

I am experiencing battery problems, as well [going to Verizon for a replacement tomorrow] but, I can't see how that is affecting this. Not rooted, 2.3.4 and not under warranty as of last year.

Unless I missed it, I didn't see anything like this here. Does anybody have any idea what's going on?

Have you tried a factory reset? Sometimes yahoo just need to wife the phone to fix some of the issues. And you'll probably get an x2 and not a dx.

I was hoping that a factory reset would be my last resort! I just reset my phone in May because of other problems. >___< And I don't understand what you mean X2 and DX. I'm not renewing my contract for a new phone if that's what you're implying.

I think she thought you were going to try to get a replacement phone. Maybe you were just going to get a new battery?

It sounds like your back button might be wigging out. Are you rooted? You could root and install a rom that can use the soft key mod. Then the buttons are just in a row along the bottom of your screen (this is how all new phones are).

I've read about rooting but I don't really want to do it. I would have to see if the pros of rooting outweigh my current cons. I just got a new extended battery and the problem seems to have stopped but we'll see!

If you are rooted you could install button savior... it puts all your soft keys on the screen so you don't ever need to actually press them.. just a thought.

I have been using button savior for several months now. I stated using it when my back button starting getting soft feeling. I like it. Takes some getting used to. It says some phones don't have to be rooted. I know it has some features that work without root.

That's true, but its a common complaint on the x and x2 that the back button doesn't work without root.
