A few days ago I started recieving 2 notifications for gmail but not for my mail.com account. One icon is the stamp with the @ on it which is what I usually get, the other is a letter icon and the sound plays twice. I don't know if an app caused it but I uninstalled Notification Toggle and I stilll get 2 notifications. How can I stop this and return to one notification?
I found my answer, go to gmail in the app drawer then my account (myname@gmail.com) / labels to notify / Inbox /off
I don't know how it got turned on but that seems to have stopped it and now I only get one gmail notification from my messaging.
