    Need fix for repeated Gmail Login Failures

    I changed my Gmail password weeks ago. For some reason, my DroidX never got the memo. Every day I will receive notice of a Login Failure. I re-enter my new password, as I have done several times already. No dice. It doesn't recognize it. Then I reboot and everything is fine. Until the next Login Failure, maybe in a day or two. How do I fix this?

    I am having the same problem the two days but i haven't chanded that password.

    I was having the same problem on my DroidX for a few months after changing my pw. The bigger problem for me was that sync wasn't happening (for Gmail and G. Calendar) and I thought the two symptoms were related. Of course, the message doesn't say which application(s) are having login failures, but I guessed it was related to the phone's mail and calendar sync (Google's). Gmail sync worked whenever I sent myself an email from my phone, so I did that repeatedly for awhile. About a month ago I tried the instructions at the Google support pages for "Problems syncing Gmail on Android" (https://support.google.com/mail/bin/...727&page=ts.cs). That fixed the sync problem for Gmail (except once a few days ago when I had to send myself an email again to wake up the sync). However, the "login failure" message continues occasionally and Google Calendar sync continued to be a problem. That is, things would sync from the web to the phone but not from phone to web. So a few days later I finally followed the Google Calendar sync instructions for "Problems with sync" (Problems with sync - Google Mobile Help) and that appears to have fixed my calendar sync problems. Though I still get the login failure messages sometimes, the applications and their sync seem to be working. (Maybe the sync retries periodically and only fails some of the time.) I have not been rebooting in response to the login failures; I just let them pass by. I did do reboots while following the fix instructions linked above. I don't reboot often in general (maybe should do so prophylactically more often).

    I'm going to start recording when I get the login failure messages so I have better data to report in future (e.g., about the continuing frequency). Of course, since the message disappears on its own in a couple seconds, it could be happening much more often than I'm aware of (while I'm not looking at it).
