DroidX stuck at M, not charging?

    Hey all,

Need some help. Yesterday I tried to boot my phone up and it's stuck at the M logo (red circle, white M). I've tried holding home + power and that doesn't do anything. Now it only comes up with the M logo if it's plugged into the wall and it still just sits there. It doesn't seem like the battery is charging either and I'm not sure if that's an issue with the battery or the phone. I didn't root my phone nor change anything aside from a few widgets, but that was like...two years ago when I first bought it. Likewise I didn't change or do anything prior to this, it just wouldn't boot up. I had some slight freezing problems prior to the phone not working and I noticed that it was a bit slower though. I'm not sure of the exact version I was on, only that it was the most recent one when I checked a month or two ago. I also checked around the forums a bit, but most of the advice seemed to try starting the phone with the home+power method and scrolling through the options there. Any suggestions for what else I can do?

    Thanks in advanced

You need to SBF it. Since you were on the latest you need to use the .621 SBF, and use RSD Lite. You may get the SBF file from here:

And use RSD Lite. If you've never done this, check here for files needed and a guide:

Thanks for the reply, the problem is that I can't enter bootloader mode at all. If I plug the phone into the wall charger the M logo pops up right away so I can't get to it that way (even holding the buttons while it's on the M screen) and if it's plugged into my the green led is on but it won't power up in bootloader mode either.

Edit: Ok, well I just got into it but it said 'battery low cannot reprogram' so I'm going to go ahead and order another battery, see if that charges / holds a charge and flash it and hope that it works.

Power it in bootloader prior to plugging in. Make sure you are pressing and holding volume down and camera prior to pressing power button. If you plug it in prior to going into the bootloader the phone may attempt to boot first which means you can't get to bootloader.

So I got a new battery and was able to power up in bootloader and sbf it. After I did that I tried to enter stock recovery since it was still bootlooping and even though I was holding both the power and home buttons it wouldn't go into recovery mode. Any ideas what else I might try?

I havent sbf'ed because i dont see why id need to. My phone was fine and stock, then bam the red m. Strange.

Sounds fishy... but at this point it sounds like a SBF is your only option if you can't access stock recovery.

Yeah or you may also be having hardware buttons issues. Does it immediately boot to bootloader upon power on? Or is that the only live mode you can access and its bootlooping if you try just powering straight on?

If its booting straight to bootloader on a standard cold boot then you will need to SBF, for sure. I almost wonder if its a hardware issue if you were truly doing nothing and then it just froze to bootloader, but the first real test to do is SBF it.

Secondly if you are able to get past the bootloader but hardware keys are not allowing you to get to stock recovery you can try attaching a usb cable and if you have a working adb setup run "adb reboot recovery" (without the quotes) in terminal/command line from the PC in your adb directory and it should force it to recovery if there's nothing corrupted on the recovery partition and its booting far enough to be recognized by adb.

i just bought a brand new battery from amazon.com...
i turn it on and it says LIBERTY
I cant get passed this screen at all, i even factory reset it.
does SBF-ing work for that screen too?

So you've tried going into stock recovery and wiping data then rebooting? As long as you can boot into bootloader (hold camera button, vol down and then power) then yes a SBF will work fine assuming the battery is charged enough. If you're bootloader says "Battery Ok" then you are good to go.
