Is the phone still in bootloader mode?
Thank You! This post saved me a lot of headaches with my 621 Droid X.
Followed your steps with slight variations and now I running CM9 on my DX and loving it.
For the D2 Bootstrap file I just downloaded an apk file for the app onto my SD card for free and install it from there after rooting, here is a link for the apk Droid 2 Bootstrap.apk - Download
hello i have verizon droid x that has to be factory reset every few days and i am thinking of rooting it, anyone have any thoughts about it
I want to run the following version of Android on my droid X:
4.5.621 Modded 1.0 (621_Modded_1.0_kY-Signed.zip)
"This Is How Moto Should Have Done It" Edition
from
[ROMS] Droid X 4.5.621 Stock Rooted / Stock Deodexed / Modded ClockworkMod Flashable Updates by kY - Droid X Development - RootzWiki
Do I just follow this guide and replace 4.5.621 Stock Rooted Deodexed with the file above? Just want to check before I break something. I'm currently on rooted GB 2.3.4 (system version 4.5.621.MB810.Verizon.en.US). Thanks in advance.
Edit: I think that my phone must have taken the OTA update to .621 even though it was rooted. I'm looking through the files I kept from when I rooted it last summer and it says "Blur_Version.2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US-Part2" (and part 1 of course). Does that change the install procedure?

hey i have a droid x 2.3.4 and i want to root it with z4root..is that possible?
No the only way to root 2.3.4/.621 without sbfing to milestone .604 is to use Magic md5 located here [How To] Root 4.5.621 with magic md5 (does not require Milestone SBF)
You download the .iso file, burn it to a disc, boot your computer from the disc and follow the on screen instructions.
Odexed just means it is more compressed. Deodexed allows for a little more customization and allows you to flash themes, that's the only real advantage.
Those steps are pretty straight forward i believe. If you really want the deodexed version
1. Downloaded the file and place it on your external sd card.
2. Boot into Bootsrap recovery
3. Format the system to me means wipe data (some say you shouldn't need to, but its a precaution.) And wipe caches.
4. Choose install zip from sdcard
5. Reboot and that should be it.
Edit: Oh *Important* make a backup of your phone before attempting this in case something goes wrong.
So I used the CD and my phone is now a Milestone X but the CD wasn't able to root it, and I downloaded zurgrush by itself and it said it worked but that didn't root it either. Please help![]()
