Droid X: PC won't recognize phone when using ICS ROMs

I've tried Gummy and AOKP ICS ROMs. On either ROM, my PC does not recognize my phone when I connect it. And despite the "charging" indicator, my phone won't charge when connected to my PC. If I restore back to a Gingerbread version of Liquid Smooth, it works just fine. I've asked this elsewhere an no one seems to know. How do I get my PC to recognize my phone when using ICS? I've heard that ICS uses other protocols instead of USB mass storage, but that my windows PC should see the phone just fine. That clearly isn't the case.

Any thoughts?

Did you try connecting your phone to the cable and then to the computer? It sounds silly, but that's what I have to do on ICS.

I had the problem with gummy yesterday, any other ics rom I just had to unplug it and plug it back in and it would pick up

I just tried plugging the cable into the phone first, then to the PC, but that didn't work. I've also tried disconnecting and reconnecting it multiple times. I get the charging battery symbol, but the phone won't actually charge and the PC doesn't know anything is connected to it.<br><br>Oh, I also updated my PC with the latest Motorola drivers. No luck.

I saw another forum reference elsewhere about going into Settings > Storage and enabling MTP, but I have no such option available. They said to click the three small squares to get to that option, but Gummy doesn't have that available. I suppose I could re-flash AOKP and see what it looks like on that screen.

I re-flashed AOKP and tried that again. It didn't work at first, so I tried unplugging from the PC and reconnecting and that worked! It didn't work on Gummy, though, so I guess I'll be using AOKP.

Yeah, I'm not sure about gummy, didn't read the changelog or haven't used it in a while prior, maybe someone who has stayed on gummy can answer

I been on gummy since .90 and on every version ,I have had to plug the phone into the computer wait a sec then unplug the usb from the computer wait a sec and then plug back in and it works fine ...It always connects on the second try ..

The double plug for the computer to recognize USB is a known issue with ICS. Gummy should be working fine as far as charging, I was on it about a week ago (the stable) and nothing different than AOKP for charging. It didn't happen to be a nightly did it? Sometimes those have issues.

It did that on CM7 based roms for me also. But I only have to double plug it once per reboot. If I plug it in later, it recognizes it the first time
