Broken LCD, need keypress locations (screenshots)

I busted the LCD on my DX (1st gen), have a new one sitting in my apartment office, will be replacing it tomorrow. That said, I was eligible for upgrade, so jumped to the Razr Maxx. I'm attempting to use a windows utility called Wondershare MobileGo to transfer my SMS messages, since I can't install apps or anything (broken LCD).

I need the keypress sequence to get to SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > DEVELOPMENT > USB debugging checkbox.

Obviously, screenshots would be the most help, but if someone can describe the locations on the screen, I might be able to get by with that. I am, to my knowledge, running the latest update for DX. I am unrooted and running vanilla OS, no launcher mods. Any help would be awesome.

That should be right but getting to the settings would be harder..

Okay I'm not on stock right now so ill say use the menu button (far left) and then click the bottom right hand corner. Then follow the screenshots.
at the bottom right hand is settings (I think) so then you can use the screenshots to see what you're doing.

No one else responded so I figured it was better than nothing.

Thanks, BHuber09 - I ran across this video and at 6:28, it shows what my menu should look like. I'll give it a shot and see what happens - thanks again!

Strange thing, I got gingerbread before a friend of mine got it on his 2nd gen DX. Wonder why verizon pushed it that way...

Well the x2 had only just cone out when we were getting GB that's the main reason. Like right now moto's phones are still running GB.
Ill check the video and make sure everything is right bit Im sure it is

Good point... I generally don't try and make sense out of how they do their updates - just leads to frustration.

What happens if you hit MENU > MANAGE APPS then press the back key once? Does it take you back to the home screen or to the APPLICATION SETTINGS screen?

I shrank the images down on that first link (verizon) so they're the same size as my screen, and pressed in the (as close as I could tell) exact spot on my screen where they should be, but USB debugging still seems to be disabled. If my settings menu isn't in the same order as the images on the verizon link, that would explain it...

won't help you now but on new phone use sms backup + it will automatically backup sms and call log to gmail

Yes, I have run across SMS Backup Plus's many accolades in my hunt for a way to get them off my busted phone tonight. Didn't think I would be trying to fumble for buttons on a blank screen until a couple of days ago... Good advice, though - wish these phone companies would start working to provide apps such as that for their bloatware instead of Need for Speed et al.

It's not working, and I'm not sure whether I have the checkbox checked or not at this point. Guess I'll have to wait until I replace the LCD to get it done.

In case it got missed, can I get an answer from anyone to this question:

I've got the X2, and from manage apps back button takes it to app settings

do you have a hdmi cable, dx has hdmi out right? easier than fixing screen
it on by default on X2, can even get a dvi adapter cheap on amazon

It does, and I have the dock for it - but it won't use the HDMI to output my display, only media (unless they changed that in gingerbread, but last I knew...), such as pics of movies. Also won't stream media over 3g - has to be a file saved on the phone (unless you get the $ app to make it work, assuming it still would).

Thanks a TON for that answer - I'll try that method of getting there. Going to assume the menu functionality is the same.
