Unhappy NO SOUND after charging or being in silent mode

    Hi Folks,
Recently I have noticed that my Droid X does not have any sound whatsoever after I charge it (through the wall charger). I have to restart the phone completely in order to get sound. This affects menu sounds, call sounds, EVERYTHING. I have checked the volume settings and they are all normal, not slid down low or anything.
This also affects my phone when I come out of silent mode. It registers the change to normal volume but I hear nothing. Vibrate works when someone calls me, but when I go to answer, I hear nothing (and so down the person on the other end despite the fact that I am repeatedly saying "Hello?").
I noticed this within the past month, although perhaps it has been happening since the last update? I certainly have installed new apps since then, as I do on a regular basis, but I don't see why that would effect this.
It is very frustrating and I can't afford to not be answering my phone on a regular basis. Can anyone help??

Try SoundRouteSwitcher in the Google Play Store. (I like this idea the best.)

    http://play.google.com/store/apps/de...dRouteSwitcher

You can try to Google search for AudioToggle, but I find SoundRouteSwitcher works better.
You can try to turn off bluetooth. That sometimes correct the problem.
Also try a different rom. After I updated to TeamBlackHat 4.5.605.Accurate_Battery (4.5.1_57_DX5-35) I didn't get that problem.
You can try clean dalvik cache.
You can try reset the device.
And lastly you can reflash your device.

The phone is not rooted and I am not interested in paying for an app to fix the problem. Does this mean my only option is a factory reset? I am really hoping that's not the case...

UPDATE to add: I cleared the system cache. So far so good, but I have not charged it for any length of time since doing this, and that's when the problem seems to occur.

I'm experiencing this exact same issue. I hadn't noticed that it seems to be related to charging until reading this though. It started for me right after the last OTA. I'm also not rooted.

Clearing the system cache did not solve the problem, either. Definitely a frustrating issue.

Hi. Have you figured out a solution? I am having the EXACT same problem. After charging no sounds at all & I have to reboot. Calls too, although dial, are completely dead. This too started a week or so ago after system update. Very frustrating. My whole phone/apps have been slow & buggy since update. Glad at least to see someone else is having same problem & it's not my phone specifically dying on me. Hope to find a fix soon!

    still no dice

I have not yet found a solution to this problem. I think a factory reset will indeed be my next step... Any other advice before I try this?

If you are going to do a factory reset, I'd recommend just doing an SBF. If you are stock unrooted there is a chance you may be able to save data (generally data wipes are required with a SBF, but as you would just be reflashing the same stock OS you have now it *may* not be necessary). If the SBF didn't resolve it and/or you bootlooped post-SBF, then you could do a data wipe. If you want to save yourself some hassle, that is.

As I'm also on the latest software update, and do not have the issue (and am aware of multiple others who do not) there is likely one of two things causing it.

Its either an app causing issues or something from the firmware update didn't take right. Flashing an SBF would allow you to effectively reset all the firmware while *possibly* keeping your data (apps, etc.) intact. Generally its less of a bother to have to re-setup your firmware/system related portions than your data, as you data includes all you games, apps, etc. while losing system related stuff will be just preferences stuff and possibly re-doing your launcher. Now if there is incompatibilities in your data files it may bootloop and you may have to wipe data anyways, but doing that option would at least give you a chance.

I have the exact same issues. And when that happens, my camera app stops working also. Have to restart the phone to get both back. this phone blows now. I think I am going to try and avoid motorola from now on.

I can't believe you said that about losing your camera when the sound goes out, me too! Wasn't sure they were related, but guess they are. It had to have been in the update. A couple weeks ago I deleted a few apps(most Adobe related) and the problem went away for a whole week(before that I was having to turn off/on my phone every morning to reset). All of a sudden it has started again(losing sound), but now only once a few days. My camera(when the app even opens) acts like it took a picture, but then later I go to it and it won't show the photo. Losing a lot of pics I thought I had. It does suck. I've had the phone for over year and a half with no problems(and I do not download hardly any apps and very little music- I keep care of it). Don't know why no one can figure this out and why it happened all of a sudden. I have to wait until August to get full upgrade(thinking I need to finally go to an iphone). Good luck!
