Some contacts are labeled "(Unknown)" -- what might have produced them?

I have about 15 contacts on my Android Motorola Droid X phone from Verizon whose labels are "(unknown)". When I examine an (Unknown) contact using [menu] [edit] on the phone the name fields are empty. I recognize the contacts because it looks like the addresses have been moved to the "notes" text-box. I have 3 Gmail accounts. The Verizon "Backup Assistant" system is enabled.

I recently downloaded my contacts from the Verizon Backup Assistant to my PC and then uploaded them to my main Gmail account. On the Droid X "Sync Contents" and "Sync Gmail" are checked on the phone's Gmail account settings -- but that might be recently done by the Verizon store. (I hate it when people mess with my phone so fast I can't see what they are doing).

When I regularly add new contacts I add them on the phone. When Droid X asks me to choose an account to store them to I select Verizon's "Backup Assistant".

These "(Unknown)" contacts all share a similar characteristic -- the address location information is in phone's the notes section when viewed in edit view -- not in the address fields. The original contacts still exist as separate contacts. The originals all have blank name fields in edit, but they are labeled with the text that is in the "company name" field. I originally entered this type of contacts on the phone -- with only the company name and address fields -- so I can produce maps.

Verizon's backup assistant is synced with the phone but does not contain the (Unknown) contacts. It does contain the corresponding contacts as originally entered.

Gmail's "My Contacts" contains the "(Unknown)" contacts but their labels are empty rather than "(Unknown)". "My Contacts" also contains the corresponding contacts with the address fields populated and labeled with the "company name" field.

Can anyone please explain what is happening to produce the contacts labeled "(Unknown)"?

I have the same thing thats happened to me.. Its actually Nemosfate if you wanna know hahaha
but i assume mine is from G+ or twitter, so maybe if you go into your g+/twitter account and turn off sync then delete the contacts it might get rid of them.

If you use Facebook on your phone it can do the same thing as G+/twitter.
I would say reset your phone and/or enter numbers in manually to backup, not gmail.
