hmmmmm i didnt really have a problem when moving from rooted froyo to stock gingerbread at all.... if i did i would have backed up my stuff to my sd card and then use Power+home and get into stock recovery and wipe my data....
wiping data in stock recovery will usually fix stuff for me, but in my opinion it really isnt the answer to EVERYTHING.

OK so I am a total newb to all this... I am wanting to go back to completely stock, unrooted gingerbread (.605 update that comes automatically) after SBFing to froyo .340. I just activated my DX and the update is downloading now. Can I just take the OTA update to BG .605 and then go along from there, choosing to root or not? I've tried the whole "rooted .340 to to GB .602/.605 without SBFing" thing, but could never get it to work. Thus, I skipped all the signing in stuff and am hoping that I will be given the option to add my accounts and such after the update, assuming it will even work.

I've just continually failed to flash to MiUi from froyo because of all the dead links and stuff in the posts out there (due to only being able to find legit MiUi SBFs for GB, but not being able to get back to GB to flash to GB MiUi versions that are rampantly available). I am getting to the point where I would rather deal with the GB bugs and be back to where I was a few days ago in legit mode, instead of trying and stuggling, eventually continually failing, to get back to where I was to try again with GB. I realized AFTER SBFing to froyo that all the posts on flashing MiUi and such were from like a year and a half ago, and have been uncomfortably stuck with froyo. Again, I want to remain stock, unrooted, up to the point of getting to GB .605, and go from there, if possible.

I will more than likely need very detailed step-by-step instructions, if it's not too much to ask. Please help if you can, and thanks to the googolplexth power in advance!

I'm bringing this up because all the methods of switching around require rooting, and I am positive that my issues arise because of my inability to grasp the concept in its entirety, which is obviously not good, since I'm required to follow directions to a T, without being able to find good downloads for the year-and-a-half-old files to move to my SD card for flashing/installing. Not being able to find all the files, and going through all the steps of installing multiple files, in order, booting into stock recovery, or CWM recovery, etc. is just confusing me to no end. I can handle the factory wipes/resets from factory recovery boot mode, but I'm like a goldfish with a short attention span, and all the copies of instructions out there, very seemingly outdated, not to mention NEVER seeming to be applicable to my exact situation, makes it like I'm trying to translate 14 languages in addition to English... and I'm only almost fluent in English. I almost finished the process that I am claiming is stock Froyo to stock GB, and it appears to have worked, as the app tray is now in the bottom right, instead of the center. I did just receive the confirmation, but am being hounded by .621 updates.

From here, can anyone give me some pointers as to whether I should stick with any ROM options from .605, or if I should wait until .621 rooting is available? I'm asking this because I've read that it isn't rootable, but again, most of the posts aren't even from 2012.

Again, thanks a bazillion in advance!

If you want root in the future then please stay away from 621. You can use Titanium Backup to freeze the updater.

I use TeamBlackHat 4.5.605.Accurate_Battery (4.5.1_57_DX5-35). And I don't get the notification of 621. Which is one of several reasons that I like to use TeamBlackHat as the base before installing roms.

Is rooting what you really want? And how long before your contract is ended.
