Droid X no live camera preview
I have a Rooted Droid X, no custom ROM, running Android 2.3.3 every time I open the Camera/Camcorder app i can take pictures/videos and it saves them just fine and i can view them in the gallery etc. but I get no live preview of what the camera is currently seeing. I have tried 3rd party camera apps as well as rebooting, adjusting camera quality, etc. I also have noticed that the YouTube app is not showing video, sound works as if a video is playing but there is no video, not sure the the 2 problems are related but help on either is welcomed.

Thank you for the suggestion, I did clear the Cache and rebooted the phone but it did not have any effect on the problem. If theirs any more information that you might need, im willing to provide any extra info.

Try going into settings > application > manage apps > all tab and scroll down to camera and cclick clear data and cache.
And if you have nothing important saved on YouTube go ahead and try the same thing on it.

Tried clearing the app cache data, uninstalling any camera/YouTube app updates, re-downloading and installing the updates. Still not working.

Do you have a clockwork backup that you can restore?
If so try that

Okay well my suggestion would be to go ahead and make one. As a just in case. Also Do all the necessary backups of contacts apps yada yada.
Then wipe data.
If that works then restore everything manually.
If it doesn't then I have 2 options. 1 is a sbf. 2 is to apply a rom haha.
Option one will delete absolutely everything and will fix it unless its a hardware problem. Option 2 wwill more than likely fix it but you will have to restore everything manually.
But first see if the data wipe works.

by wipe data, do you mean preform a factory data reset? from the boot up recovery menu?
-
That is correct.
This is an unusual problem I have not heard of. I would have said hardware problem buy then you said it was happening with YouTube also I'm not sure what it is.
But try a factory reset and if it doesn't work ill be here.
