    Separating email/text alerts

I see how to set alert sounds and ringtones, but is there a way to separate email alert from text alert? The original Droid allowed for this.

    Yes

Go to email, email settings, notifications, select ringtone.

In addition to the above, there is an app called GMail Notifier that allows you customize incoming gmail alerts (if you are using the stock gmail app)...

Be sure to double check whichever apps your using for other things also. If you use Handcent for sms but other apps for gmail and email, make sure you have them all set up accordingly. Might have to turn notifications off in one of the others. You could end up getting all sorts of different notifications for different things and it can get quite confusing.

I'm having a similar problem. I have four accounts, one gmail and two corporate and an AT&T account all set up. I can set the Gmail account to a different ringtone and it stays the way I set it and all is right in google world, but if I change say, my at&t ringtone ten it changes the corporate email accounts' ringtones as well. Any thoughts?
