My phone is not detected by Device Manager when connected by USB cable. No place in Device Manager is it seen as Android Phone.
When USB Connection on my phone is set as "PC Mode", drivers do not install correctly. MOTO USB Driver install fail.jpg The phone appears under "portable devices" as "MTB USB device" and has a yellow error triangle on it. The error message reads, "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
When USB Connection on my phone is "Charge Only". The drivers install without error.Driver install at USB Mode.jpg Device Manager sees it as a disk drive, and in "Portable Devices" it just
appears as drive letter "G"
When USB Connection on my phone is "USB Mass Storage", no additional drivers load. In Device Manager the phone is seen as a disk drive and detected as "MOT" in "Portable Devices".
What I've tried so far;
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the newest Motorola drivers. I've deleted all the USB devices from Device Manager and let them reinstall themselves. I've tried all the USB ports on my desktop. I'm using the original Motorola USB cable that came with my phone and a high end replacement cable. Connected with USB Debugging checked and without it.
My questions are, how do I get the Droid X to function fully in PC Mode? Why isn't the phone being picked up in Device Manager as a phone?
