Change Camera button

I've noticed that the camera button on the X has to be pressed for at least a second or so to engage the camera. I'm wondering if it's possible to take advantage of that delay and say if I just press it instead of press and hold it I could enable / disable the auto rotation feature? It annoys me by having it on all the time because it likes to rotate when I don't want it to so I want to use at button to enable or disable that feature because it comes in handy when viewing videos or sending a fast email or something.

Anyone know of any app or script maybe that could allow me to do this?
