DroidX stopped playing video on the youtube app

My DroidX has stopped playing video on the youtube app. I just get a black screen when I try to run a youtube video from the app or browser. I cannot get a menu to come up either? (Title bar is at top but non responsive). I can only press the Home button - no other way out. Anybody know how to solve this one???

sooy, I incorrectly stated above that the Title bar at the top was unresponsive. Not true, I can slid it down and back up, however the youtube app still seems locked (black screen) either from the browser or running it directly? Help! Please!

might be that the app crashed. usually it will pick up on itself.


try to get some sort of app to kill the process.

yea yea, I know these apps are terrible, but I use 'system panel lite' (lite is free) for monitoring, it HAS task killing built in, but is not being used and only use it to kill an unresponsive, cpu overtaking app.

When I kill the background YouTube that is running, then youtube responds with the normal menus until I try to play one. Then it is back to frozen. So you got me part way there. I can view youtube selections if i don't try to play them.
I am wondering if youtube be reinstalled. I do not see it under Settings>Applications>Manage Applications (it is not in the list of apps?)

All I had to do was power down and remove the battery. It now works

Try clearing the cache.

Go into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Press the Menu Hard Button> choose Filter > All> Scroll to YouTube, then tap the "Clear Cache" button.

That works for me almost every time I have issues with it.

I have found that I have to do battery pulls about 2 to 3 times a week. Starting with my Blackberry then Winmo 6.5 and now the Driods. I have had to restart my 2.2 driod X twice today. Be nice to see a phone control its memory better.
