What is the simplest tool for cleaning up all the auto running programs in the Droid

Like a kid in a candy story I download every fun, interesting and useful looking application and it seems like even with the Advanced Task Killer stuff just loads back into memory. I don't know which programs are slowing it down? I also installed Startup Cleaner 2.0 the but not sure how to use it and programs marked to not install will reload even after killed with Advanced Task Killer?

Welcome any input and want to learn more about how it really works?

    Martin

Get rid of the ATK, there is no need for it.

Don't take the above advice as there's *no* need for a task killer...just realize that you don't need to manage applications for the sake of memory. The only time you need to "manage" applications is when they are actually slowing your phone down by constantly working in the background when you don't want them to and have no other way to stop them (like with settings). These apps are few and far between, and you can leave 99% of the stuff you use running without any problems. You definitely don't need to have it automatically killing tasks - especially because most of them start back up themselves anyway.

If you experience some lag on your phone, open up a task killer and close applications one by one, going back out after each one and checking to see if your problem is solved. You won't always catch an app, though it may seem like it, but it's about the only way you're going to find problems like that.

you dont need a task killer for this, you can just do it in settings>applications

That's a lot of clicks for something you can do with one.

You guys need to stop being so stubborn. Just because a number of equally stubborn people have the means to post an article about it doesn't make them correct. You guys have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the problem actually is. Yes - Android manages tasks just fine - but it will not close a task that is constantly doing crap - and sometimes the crap it's doing is 100% unnecessary. As an example, there are plenty of apps that want to constantly access GPS, even though as you'll notice Google Maps only does it when it's in the forground. Don't you dare reply to this with "turn GPS off"...because you don't need to do that either.

I am not suggesting you need to have it to watch your memory usage and close apps when you're done with them - or set it to auto close apps you don't want running...just use it for times when certain apps are causing noticeable lag on your phone and you have isolated the app/reason.

If I did not relize what I did I would be returning my Droid X to the store.

If I did not relize what I did I would be returning my Droid X to the store. When I bought it it was fast now I press the button to answer the phone and it crawls. My phone is running very poor for due to things I installed! Thanks for the tips I will try some of them.
