Prevent deleting voice mails by mistake?

Have had a Droid X since early April 2011. Currently running Android 2.3.3 - as of June 2 --> Build GB 4.5.596 .
I've accidentally erased a few voice mails by hitting 7 before hitting 9, duh It happened again tonight when I put it upside down on my knee while sitting in my car to hear the message louder via speaker phone (ear piece & speaker phone volume another issue for another thread).

So what I am looking for is an app or anything else that can be added as a feature that pops up, like on a computer, saying "Are you sure you wish to delete this file" (in my case, delete this voice voice mail). Does such an app exist? Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions.

Voicemail is a system provided and managed by Verizon. As such, you're not going to be able to insert a third-party application into that process. If you want more control over Voicemail, I suggest installing Google Voice. Choose the option to use it to transcribe voicemail only, and then your voicemail will come through Google instead of Verizon. You will never need to call voicemail again, every voicemail will be sent to your phone as a playable or readable audio file. Google will transcribe them so you can read as a text. I have not called voicemail in over a year and a half. There is still a number to call if you really want to (and you'll have to in order to set up a greeting.)

You can do the same thing with youmail. Started using youmail two years ago after I dumped verizon's virtual voice mail. Worth checking out.

Thanks for both of your replies.

I wasn't too pleased with what I read about youmail since many people reported forced lock and many others that said they uninstalled it.

I went with Google voice (had it installed, just never set it up) I tested it by sending myself a few voice mails and it works pretty good, so I'll see how things work out for me in the next few days/weeks.
