Apps Installed Fine - Questions After The Install Now

My DX arrived yesterday and I eagerly charged it to full and powered it on last night. After going through the initial setup prompts I was in business shortly after and ready to start installing some of the apps I've been researching.

I noticed that at the top of my phone in the notification area for the battery, cell signal, etc. that little icons where appearing after each app install. I pulled this notification area down and saw confirmation of the apps I had installed and so on. I figured that these were just temp items and icons and they would go away.

This morning I checked my phone eagerly again and to my surprise they were all still there. Not knowing what to do to remove them I simply shut the phone off and then back on again. That cleared them but left me wondering... is there some way for me to clear all these icons that will inevitably fill my notification bar once again when I start installing more apps.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions and my apologies if I'm mistakenly called the "notification area" by the wrong name.

You can clear anything shown there by pressing the "Clear" button on the upper right corner of the screen after dragging down the notification bar. Also, clicking on the notification itself in that window (such and such successfully installed) will launch the program and clear the notification.

There is a clear button at the top right, press & it will clear all notifications listed at bottom. The info under ongoing is current apps running - to disable their icon you would need to access thru the app & specific setting to disable.

I attached a screenshot, hope that helps.
