ota on a rooted x

i have a rooted x with overclocking. i got the ota the other day and it failed. curious what i need to do to get the ota to work. i tried to unroot but that didnt work. i used Z4 root. i also have changed alot of apk files to bak. do i have to switch them all back to apk unroot and then do factory reset? or can i just unroot and do factory reset then do the ota then reroot?

Rename everything back to .apk and try it again. When it starts to install hit the search key, it will tell you where it failed

OP.....if it gets too frusterating just SBF using 1KDS's http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/dr...-problems.html You will be good to go after that for sure.

If you do take the OTA, you will not be able to root. If you want rooted GB.596. you must download a pre-rooted version and install.

I recommend what HarleyDude suggested. You get to the same point, maintain root, and can easily reinstall whatever you need to get back to being OC'd. Remember to download Busybox and reinstall after updating to .596. If you use Droid X Overclock, it'll prompt you to do it, anyways.

Excellent help guys ty! I decided insted to just run freedom. Very smooth and fast with oclicking it really flys and its smooth.
