Getting into Droid X that was on Verizon Without Activating It
I have an old Droid X that was on Verizon but I no longer have the service. I just want to use the Droid X on wifi now. I did a hard reset and I cannot get into the device because it wants me to activate it with Verizon. How can I get into the phone so I can just use it as a mini tablet/PDA without phone service?

At the very start, when it prompts you to touch the android guy to begin, start at the top left corner of the phone and tap each corner in a clock-wise direction. It will go straight to the home screen

Yup...here's a pic that might help:
The extra bit of adding the pic really helped those of us who were unsure. Thank you. I can now use my phone for contacts, games and pictures.

Actually scktsa, I'm glad you necro posted. I didn't know about this. Thanks to you, now I do.
Can anyone expand on getting wifi without service? Like if service is shutoff to the phone?
Shouldn't be any problem just bypass activation using the 4-corner trick described above then toggle on WIFI. If you are referring to using it for VOIP calls/SMS via WIFI there's plenty of apps in the market that can help you. Some free, some of the better ones will require a small pay plan. (Its very small though I have my Nexus 7 with a dedicated phone line and SMS line via WIFI as they don't have cell chips in them and I use Google Voice to dial. I can also tie it to my cell so I don't have to pay any fees, and SMS is free via Google Voice, its more if you want to be making phone calls is where it can cost money.)
