yeah the only other way I could tell you to check to make sure everything works after that if the process above doesnt work is to wipe everything (which you already have) or go into accounts then your google account and disable it then re enable the google account to see if it syncs back up with google servers
I can confirm that having screen filter enabled, disabled my ability to install apk's.
I'm using a HTC Sensation, and have notified the screen filter devs of this quirk.
Glad I found this thread, Problem fixed in 30 seconds! Cheers.
Agreed on the "screen filter" causing not to let you click "Install". I too have had this problem for a long time...I've tried flashing different roms and it works initially and then doesn't. I wiped my whole phone (even formated sd card thinking maybe that's why it won't let me install.) Installed a new ROM (GB-CM7 nightly 01-16-2012) and very slowly began setting the settings and installing apps to try and find the "trigger"....very difficult...too many variables...
Just did a Google search on "can't click install button" and came to this post...read about the screen filter and realized I've been using an app called LightSaver that really controls the screen brightness very well. I killed the service and BAM..I could install again!
Kinda sucks because it was a great program and would rate it very high..gotta stop using it since most of the apps I install are from the .apk file and not from the market.
So..what's the deal with any type of screen filter blocking/preventing PackageInstaller?? Just curious.
I was having this problem as well. I had Screen Filter installed, but not active. I uninstalled it and the Install button still did not work. I uninstalled the Amazon Appstore and redownloaded again. Installing it via ES File Explorer, the Install button was still locked. Someone on another forum suggested stopping running services and app through Settings/Applications/RunningServices. I tried a few without luck. So I went through and stopped everything I could and finally was able to reinstall Amazon Appstore. After that, I was able to install the updates available from Amazon. I reinstalled Screen Filter and activating it indeed blocked the Install button. Deactivating without uninstalling allowed Install to work. Then I realized I recently installed Diagnostics by Darken (fantasticly useful!), and had system tracking overlayed on the screen, including the LL corner. It was one of the service I killed in that last round. I reactivated it and Install was blocked. Switched off tracking from within the app disabled the overlay, and Install worked.
@jeraspie28: I *THINK* it's because Scree Filter overlays on the screen. I don't understand why it blocks only the install button. The Cancel button still worked. I read on another forum that since Google tightened it's policy on "deceptive" apps, overlays don't always pass screen touches through to the buttons underneath. I discovered Diagnostics has the same problem.

Hello all, any help will be appreciated >> So my Droid X is running Sys version 4.5.596 Android 2.3.3 and it won't update to 4.5.605. It is flashed from Verizon to Cricket and has always updated in the past. It downloads just fine but after reboot starts with unpacking screen and gets almost halfway done then shows triangle for a second then just boots up normally and tells me the sys update failed. oh and also ive had this phone rooted b4 but screwed it up and had to pay to have it fixed, funny thing is the guy who fixed it said that flashing the phone DOES root the phone, not sure I believe that, but ok
So your wanting to update your phone to 605? There is another version 621 that's the latest and greatest (unless you plan on rooting and roaming). And to test for root download root checker app and superuser app (im nor sure root checker works without it) and you can see.
