Post Droid X Screen VERY unresponsive to touch!! What happened??

When my Droid X was out of the box, it was lightning fast and super responsive to the touch. Lately, it has been taking two presses to either launch and icon/widget or when trying to get to another screen. This happens about 80% of the time I use the touchscreen. I use a task killer to make sure I'm not running things unnecessarily, and the Android Assistant with the auto boost (kills the totally unneeded programs I designate every 10 minutes if they reopen).

Aside from that, I have uninstalled all the programs I downloaded that either I don't want or don't ever use.

    I don't use a live wallpaper

I run Darkslide 4.2, which isn't the fastest out there, but is certainly faster than most.

I keep my wifi and gps off unless they're being actively used.

I dont have an excessive amount of icons(maybe 40 total between all 5 screens), or widgets(maybe 10 at most, 2 per screen).

I have backed up, then wiped data/cache/dalvik and reinstalled, and got little to no results.

Also, I recently bought a new set of screen protectors, but the problem seemed to persist even when there wasn't one there at all.

Has anyone had this problem?? Does anyone know something else to try that might work?

    Thank you for any help!!

Try getting rid of the task killer. They sewn to cause more problems than they fix sometimes.

Ill give it a shot, but it doesn't seem like a task killer could actually affect the responsiveness of the touch. I could see if it maybe slowed the phones memory down....we'll see!

Mine seems to be doing the same. Had it since launch. On apex 1.3. Getting pretty frustrated. My wifes fascinate seems to be having the same problem. Wonder if it is just a flaw on this generation of touch screens.
I dont run a task killer so doubt that is it. Leaning toward hardware.

Happening to me lately too. But I assumed it was due to a recent drop.

I'm on Liberty 1.5 here and don't use any task killers or anything.

Well we know its not a task killer, nor a difference between the ROMS, and Apex, Darkslide, and Liberty seem to be the best and most popular of the 10 or so available. But, if its a hardware problem I would assume my warranty should cover it since I've only had the phone for 3 weeks!?!?

    Found it:
Droid 2 touch screen input not working well when charging - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

I unplugged it from the charger and bam, now it's working fine. Swype isn't missing a beat.
