    Newbie Trouble with default email

I am a DX newbie, so forgive me if this has been answered before. I have had my DX for about three weeks, and I am having trouble with my default email in my contacts being stuck on an older, seldom used email account. Every time I select a person to email, DX automatically pulls up an email window, but it with the old yahoo! account. How do I switch that to my Gmail account? I have deleted the older account out of "My Accounts" section of the settings, but now when I attempt to email someone from my contacts, the DX is telling me I don't have an email account associated with my contacts.

    Thanks.

If you go into your messages icon, then the universal inbox, hit your menu hard button, settings, email, then finally you will have an option to pick your default email. Whew.

Been to the Gingerbread house and back to the DarkSlide...

The "email" choice is a light grey instead of white and it won't allow me to select it!

That means you probably only have one acct setup on the phone. On your homescreen, push the hard menu button, go to settings, accounts, then add the account there

When I do that, it says that I already have that account created. Wow this is frustrating!

Hmm...so you're using the default "email" app that came on the phone? You could download and set the gmail app as your default, that might work for you. Or the yahoo mail app if you want to use a yahoo account instead. I quit using the stock email app a loooong time ago due to its tiby attachment size limit

Gmail or yahoo apps. Whichever email you use.

I am also finding that my contacts aren't available while composing an email with Gmail. Instead, I have to tap in any address I want to email. I found that if go to my hard main menu from the Home screen>settings>data manager>data delivery>email and corporate sync>default email account - that gmail IS NOT an option. Only the Yahoo! account is available to choose. I even went as far as to make up another Gmail account and tried to make IT my default email. The DX would not recognize it as an available account. Is this just an issue with DXs or Gmail in general? My wife has a HTC Incredible, and gmail is available through her contacts.
