    have phone vibrate only when receiving a text or call

    I just bought the droid x. How do i set it up that the phone will only vibrate when I receive a call or a text?

    Menu > settings > sounds. Tap on the vibrate dropdown. Hit "Only in silent mode". Now, from the lockscreen, you can swipe the right tab to the left, and it will switch to vibrate. Swipe it again, and all of your volume settings will resume to how you had them last.

    You can also swipe the right screen tab when the screen is activated.

    i must have something else set up wrong because the only thing that happens is that a green flashing light appears but it does not vibrate?

    Do what I said earlier. You have the vibrate settings to Never. When you swipe on the lockscreen, it's silent. Change that setting to Vibrate when in silent.
