Its the process of installing a custom rom/firmware/software. And you do this usually through a custom recovery like Droid X bootstrap or Droid 2 Bootstrap
So you root your phone, install bootstrap download your rom or theme boot into recovery through bootstrap then "flash" the rom or theme and then reboot your phone.

The fact that there is an Android Dictionary made me laugh out loud. Very informative, and seems like it would be invaluable to new people. Sometimes I forget that we use so much lingo.

I'm still a NEWBE and don't know what I have after Rooting my Droid X back in January 2011.
My System Version says 2.3.340 (????GingerBread????? I THINK from what I've read here)
Android Version 2.2.1
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
I occasionally have Problems like Calendar Entries Dissapearing after Entering Them, Telephone Not Dialing or Receiving Incoming Calls, Auto Update for downloaded apps. NOT Working and giving an ERROR Message "Unable to Save or Move to Phone or SD Card" etc. I've found it useful to do a Shutdown or Battery Pull occasionally to correct the Problem, (Similar to a Computer reboot I GUESS!!!) except for the "Auto Update Apps."
I have Installed Z4Root, Superuser, Titanium Backup & SuperManager.
WTF????????????
Do I need to UPDATE the SYSTEM VERSION 2.3.340, OR ANDROID VERSION 2.2.1 OR KERNAL VERSION 2.6.32.9 to another Version or something else?????????????

Yes you can easily update and root your phone again by using the 602 root iso in this link Linux solution to your Windows/RSD lite problems there's a step by step video guide in that link.
