Anyone know how to prevent this? I copied my music folders to the music folder on my SD-card. Included in each folder were the album covers. The covers show up in the music app but also clutter up the media photos display.

Same here it is a big clutter, there's gotta be a way to separate
DROID X with Tapatalk

Try placing a txt file named .nomedia in the folder.
That should keep them from showing in the gallery, not sure how it affects the music app....
