    Amazon can't be killed?

    I just used Titanium Backup to freeze a long list of apps. Amazon mp3 was one of these, and I got the message that it "has been frozen and will be invisible in my app drawer."

    However, I still have it listed in my app drawer. It's NOT invisible. When I try to start it, it of course said an error had occurred, so it's not operable, but I'd like it to be invisible. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.

    I've rebooted twice, but it's still there. Taunting me with it's presence...

    Yeah, I've done this. Restarted the phone two different times, as well as do a battery pull. Still there.

    I'm only using the stock launcher that came with the DX. Is there a way to restart that launcher?

    I don't think the stock launcher will allow you to remove it from the app drawer. You need to use a launcher like lpp or adw.

    Try and restore it, then download the latest updates for it, then freeze it. Alternatively, if its really giving you trouble you can always use a file explorer like root explorer to rename the file from amazon.apk to amazon.apk.bak

    The file is located in /system/apps

    ^^^Try what he said first but if I remember, I couldn't get Amazon mp3 to be removed from the stock app drawer either. That was a long time ago though.

    OK, I "defrosted"/restored it, updated it from the market, clicked "wipe data", and froze it again. Still, it persists, being visible in my app drawer. It's not a huge deal, but I'm curious why this one app is impervious to this process, where all others are froze and invisible.

    Don't know if I want to risk the root explorer, as I'm not real confident in myself getting that deep at this point.

    I've considered installing one of the launcher's mentioned, but I've heard that these launchers run on top of the stock launcher, so my phone will have two launchers running at the same time? Won't that create additional drag, as well as battery burden?

    thoughts? launcher recommendations?

    @TeeX

    Root explorer is just a file explorer, like on any computer. All you are doing is going to the directory with all the system apps and renaming the file so that it has .bak extension, android will no longer consider it an app until you rename it back to apk. It's really not complicated at all, or dangerous in anyway.

    As far as alternate launchers are concerned; once you download and install one, the next time you hit the home button it will ask you what launcher you want to use. Once you set it as your default.. your stock launcher never runs.
