Created nandroid backup of old phone for replacement phone. Good or Bad?

I just got my replacement DX (hardware issue - the bottom piece on the front where the mic is was loose). I thought an easy way to get all my apps, contacts, text messages, etc. over to the new phone was to create a backup of my old phone.

Now when backup assistant runs, it says my PIN does not match MDN for this subscriber and to call Verizon Customer Support for assistance. Did I mess something up with putting the backup from my old phone on my new phone? Since backup assistant won't sync now, I am worried that some important identification numbers from my old phone are now on my new phone and might mess things up.

What did you use to create a nandroid backup? Backup assistant doesn't do nandroid backups and is pretty much useless IMO.

You could use bootstrap to create a nandroid backup, and then root the new phone, install bootstrap, and restore your backup. The thing is, what problems were you having that caused you to get a new phone? Restoring your old phone might just transfer the problem to your new device, unless it was hardware-related.

It was just a hardware issue, the phone was working fine. I used the bootstrap to create the backup. Since backup assistant won't sync now, I am worried that some important identification numbers from my old phone are now on my new phone and might mess things up.

If the new phone is working properly otherwise, I wouldn't worry about backup assistant, it has never worked right for me. I think I've gotten those same errors before and it wasn't a problem, other than not being able to use backup assistant.
