Internet file not working on DX flashed to Cricket. Help!

Hey everyone! I just discovered this site! Wow, it's nice to see a site dedicated to our X's. I see myself spending alot of fun time here.

Problem: Anyway, on to my problem. I posted this same problem on another forum and still haven't been able to figure it out. I have a DX flashed over to Cricket. It was on 2.1 when I got it new. I had a full flash done with the internet file pushed to the phone. I had it rooted as well. I used the phone for about 2.5 months. Then the other day I checked for updates and the option came up in phone information to upgrade to 2.2. I decided to do it not thinking that it was going to cause the problem it did. I lost the ability to receive calls as well as the internet. I had them refresh the system and after a while I was receiving calls again. But no internet. I took the phone back to the guy I had flash it for me the first time. He had to reset the phone, push the file back to the phone and root it. All was well the rest of that day. That night I turned the phone off. The next morning when I booted the phone up it locked up on me. I couldn't get it to stop locking up on me. So, once again, I took it back to have it looked at. And again, he had to reset the phone but it kept locking up. So finally the third time he didn't push the internet file to the phone and viola, it didn't lock up. It worked like a charm only with no internet. I decided to not have him do it so I could have a working phone until I/we get this figured out.

Question: So I turn to you, the experts. Have you guys ever heard of this? Anyone run into this problem? Any experience, suggestions or solutions? I did speak with a place that flashes phones and they apparently have run into this problem. Their solution was to go back to 2.1. I hate to do that since I really like the new options that 2.2 gives you. I will do it if that is my only option. Could it be that the internet file that he is trying to push to my phone isn't made for 2.2? Is there a different file? Or could it be that the Cricket system isn't compatible with 2.2 yet? And if that is the case, do providers have to update their systems whenever a new version of Android comes out? What am I/we doing wrong here? Sucks not having 3g when you're used to having it all the time.

On a side note: I have noticed that my battery life has gone through the roof not having a 3g connection. I used to kill my battery half way or 3/4's the way through the day. Now I can go all day, night and into the next day easily without ever putting it on charge. Interesting...... I know a 3g connection hurts the battery with the constant updates and checking and all, but it's amazing to see the difference.

Thanks for your help on this, I appreciate any help, advice or suggestions. I know this is the best place to turn, the forums dedicated to my phone.

I would say go to Rootz Wiki and flash the 2.2 SBF. Never heard of Cricket for the X.

Cricket is a cellular service. (Didn't know if you were referring to you've never heard of Cricket.) Otherwise, I had the phone flashed to Cricket since it is also a CDMA carrier.

With all this talk about bricking your phone after you do the 2.2 o.t.a., am I safe to go to a 2.2 sbf from 2.2 ota? Could the 2.2 ota version be causing a problem that the 2.2 sbf wouldn't?

Wicked: Do you believe it's the use of an internet file made for 2.1 or that the cellular carrier doesn't support 2.2? If it is the previous problem, is there an internet file for 2.2 for this situation?

    Arthur: what are your thoughts?

And does anyone have any input on if I go to the 2.2 sbf from the 2.2 ota will I have any problems like bricking?

Anyone? Trying to get data back on my X and looking for the best way to do it and/or figure out why I lost it in the first place. Knowing why it happened I'm guessing will help in figuring out how to go about fixing the problem. Still looking for more solid answers from anyone who can help. From what has been suggested, can anyone confirm it? Especially the thought of using a 2.2 sbf file when I am on the 2.2 ota file.

Thanks for all your help guys!!

full 2.2 sbf is the same as 2.2 ota the only 2.2 .sbf are 2.2 system only and 2.2 full. so long as it is not the 2.2 leak the 2.2 sbf will work fine however if it is the leak you will need 2.1 sbf.

no clue on the situation with cricket i have never seen an x on cricket

Have you tried another web browser to see if that works? Perhaps Dolphin HD or something?

Ryan: So you're saying it would be ok for me to flash to 2.2 sbf as long as I have the 2.2 ota? I did the 2.2 ota option on the phone in phone information. If I were to download the 2.2 sbf file will it not brick the phone? There's been alot of talk about those of us who upgraded to 2.2 ota and have bricked their phones when they tried to go back to 2.1. Also, do you believe that going to 2.2 sbf may fix my issue? Why would the internet file that needs to be pushed to my phone lock it up after I did the 2.2 ota upgrade?

Hollywood: My phone was locking up as soon as or shortly after the internet file was pushed to the phone. I never had a chance to open a browser. All I had on the phone at that time was the stock browser.
