Hey everyone! I just discovered this site! Wow, it's nice to see a site dedicated to our X's. I see myself spending alot of fun time here.
Problem: Anyway, on to my problem. I posted this same problem on another forum and still haven't been able to figure it out. I have a DX flashed over to Cricket. It was on 2.1 when I got it new. I had a full flash done with the internet file pushed to the phone. I had it rooted as well. I used the phone for about 2.5 months. Then the other day I checked for updates and the option came up in phone information to upgrade to 2.2. I decided to do it not thinking that it was going to cause the problem it did. I lost the ability to receive calls as well as the internet. I had them refresh the system and after a while I was receiving calls again. But no internet. I took the phone back to the guy I had flash it for me the first time. He had to reset the phone, push the file back to the phone and root it. All was well the rest of that day. That night I turned the phone off. The next morning when I booted the phone up it locked up on me. I couldn't get it to stop locking up on me. So, once again, I took it back to have it looked at. And again, he had to reset the phone but it kept locking up. So finally the third time he didn't push the internet file to the phone and viola, it didn't lock up. It worked like a charm only with no internet. I decided to not have him do it so I could have a working phone until I/we get this figured out.
Question: So I turn to you, the experts. Have you guys ever heard of this? Anyone run into this problem? Any experience, suggestions or solutions? I did speak with a place that flashes phones and they apparently have run into this problem. Their solution was to go back to 2.1. I hate to do that since I really like the new options that 2.2 gives you. I will do it if that is my only option. Could it be that the internet file that he is trying to push to my phone isn't made for 2.2? Is there a different file? Or could it be that the Cricket system isn't compatible with 2.2 yet? And if that is the case, do providers have to update their systems whenever a new version of Android comes out? What am I/we doing wrong here? Sucks not having 3g when you're used to having it all the time.
On a side note: I have noticed that my battery life has gone through the roof not having a 3g connection. I used to kill my battery half way or 3/4's the way through the day. Now I can go all day, night and into the next day easily without ever putting it on charge. Interesting...... I know a 3g connection hurts the battery with the constant updates and checking and all, but it's amazing to see the difference.
Thanks for your help on this, I appreciate any help, advice or suggestions. I know this is the best place to turn, the forums dedicated to my phone.
