I don't know.........how can I tell? This is a new phone for me, coming over from a Blackberry. Wouldn't there automatically be a Google account after the contacts were downloaded through Verizon.
I don't use gmail as my email client so I don't have a contact list on my computer if that answers your question.

Log into http://www.google.com/contacts . There's an option to merge duplicates. All changed made in the web interface will automatically sync to your phone.

Thanks for the link. I don't have any duplicates on the gmail contact list.
Also, I have a few contacts that are not updating during sync because there not in my droid contacts list. There not on my gmail contact list either, but there still listed in my email client. I use "Intellect" from Time & Chaos.
    Any thoughts?

    Resolved.
Called Verizon and they said that Backup Assistant is the problem. You can not have BA running. We did a complete reset back to original setting and performed the sync.
Worked great. All contact and calendar are as they should be.

That's what a senior tech told me. It somehow/sometimes conflicts with the gmail account.

I'm very often find duplicate contacts. I have long wondered how to solve this problem, and Scrubly Duplicate Remover came to my aid. This really works well for me. This tool is really useful and indeed an effective one.

This is frustrating, first most of my contacts were duped. Found the problem being one from Gmail, one from Verizon BA Assistant. Did not want to totally reset phone. Went online, deleted everything in BA Assistant. Took care of most but not all. Then opened dupes on the Droid, his edit and it showed to where it was sync'd. Deleted them one at a time. Now my Dejaoffice contacts are duplicated! I use Outlook at home and don't want to put everything into Gmail, plus Office has notes, etc. Someone has to come up with a better app to sync Outlook to Droid.
