Trying to go back to 2.1 - uninstall driver

I am running 2.2 from update.zip. I am trying to go back to 2.1 to get the OTA update. I am following the directions on rootzwiki. My system is 64bit Windows 7.

When I go to install the correct driver included in "the gift" I get an error message saying I have a newer version installed already. I have looked through my device manager for any reference to Motorola and deleted all those drivers. I still get the error.

FYI if I try to run RSD Lite with my current driver I get a FAIL message after clicking the start button.

Hope someone can help me get the correct driver installed - this is driving me nuts!

Make sure you run rsdlite as admin. If your computer doesn't prompt you when your phone is plugged in, then you should have the right drivers. Also make sure the phone is in usb debugging mode (settings-applucations- development).

I am running rsd lite as admin and my phone is in usb debugging mode. I still get a FAIL message when running rsd lite. What could cause that (except the wrong drivers)? And why would they include the drivers in the zip file if it doesn't matter what version of the drivers I run?

Is the USB debugging icon showing up on your phone? I know there are some problems getting pc mode and usb debugging to cooperate. If it's not, just run on charge only. Just a thought.

did you move the flash.ini file into RSD's directory?

OK, now things have taken a step backwards. RSD is now not seeing my droid at all. I have tried uninstalling rsd, reinstalling and copied the ini file again. I run it as administrator and nothing shows up. The phone bootloader says Transfer Mode: USB, so it knows that it is connected.

That almost sounds like drivers issues. Have you installed the drivers provided with the rootz wiki post? I'd assume they have the most up-to-date ones, but you might do some searching. What version of RSDlite are you running?

When I try to install the drivers that came with the rootzwiki zip file, I get a message saying I already have a newer version of the driver installed. I have RSDLite 4.7.

When I did 2.2 to 2.1, I used rsdlite 4.8. Maybe give that a try. Something might be different for 2.2??
