Trying to make sense of this

    Hello,
To many forums, to many threads, to many pages, and well I am spinning here trying to make heads o tails of all this.

OK I originally rooted with easy root.
Then I updated to 2.2 the leak.

Now is it true that they can stop our devices from seeing or receiving the update?
That said do I revert back to 2.1 first or only?
    Do I have to un-root?
And what order would I do this all in?

If I must un-root, I will miss some of the neat rooted app's that I have grown to enjoy.

    Thanks

It sounds like Moto is syaing you'll need to be on 2.1u1 to get the offical update. I doubt rooting will make a difference. If you want to roll back to 2.1u1, then you'll need to flash the sbf file using RSD Lite 4.7. You'll have to look around for the sbf as the admins here don't like people talking about where to get it, but searching about rootz or a reading a few wikis here and there should get you where you need to be. Why not wait until Moto is actually rolling out the updates? If people were able to get the leak and develop methods to apply it, you don't think the same can happen for the official update? It's just Moto FUD, otherwise.

No but I have been experiencing a few issues like when I press the power button the LED blinks green but the screen remains dark and doesn't turn on.
After a few moments it soft reboots.

Haven't been able to figure this out.
At times it just reboots for no good reason.
It can happen if Im using it or when its sleeping.
Its only 2 maybe 3 times a day

The other thing is that when I choose a contact it feels like it lags between choosing and doing...
I can live with it well its not happening now but there seems to be a growing reason to try to restore, but i am not running to do it at this moment.

So I have to un-root first, with easy root (1 button option) or can/do i roll back first to 2.1.1?

    Thanks

Then go back to 2.1 It should not be rebooting itself.

There are several threads showing you hoe to go back.

Thats weird. My phone hasnt rebooted itself since updating to 2.2. In fact, that is the norm for those updating to 2.2. Something they did for 2.2 fixed it.

This leads me to believe the issue isnt with 2.2 but rather with the phone itself. I would get a replacement ASAP.

That would be kind of jumping the gun IMO. People have issues when it comes to updating all the time. Maybe the OP didn't wipe data and clear the cache when updating or who knows what else. If someone is experiencing issues like rebooting then they should probably think about SBFing back to 2.1u1, rerooting, then reapplying the 2.2 update all while following a comprehensive guide.

Agreed. I have put my phone in to a state where it is rebooting/crashing all the time.

Just Googling I found this guide at alldroid that seems pretty detailed and people are having success:

Droid X SBF Windows Instructions. Finally. - Droid X Rooting - AllDroid Public Board - Droid X SBF Windows Instructions. Finally. - Droid X Rooting - AllDroid Public Board - AllDroid.org > Home

Keep in mind I haven't tried this myself, though I may at some point. Except for the Battery Manager my 2.2 setup (installed using the Bootstrapper/ROM Manager method) is working perfectly after applying the marketplace fix. The leak's battery manager just seems to be borked as everyone is having problems with it working only some of the time if at all.
