    Thinking of rooting my DroidX

I have a droidX with android system 2.3.4 and my carrier is verizon. I know you can not get any more updates on a stock droidX, but I was thinking about rooting my phone to get the latest updates and have my phone work more efficiently. Im not into customizing or tweaking my phone. I just would like to know if rooting would be a good idea for me or not. If it is i would like to know how to root my phone and how to do the updates and such. Thankyou

rooting is easy, just gives you access to system settings.
Then you can remove bloatware, or install a custom rom that does not have bloatware and some have a newer version of android.
Before rooting you should know how to restore original firmware(SBF) and how to backup your data (texts, call log, browser bookmarks, apps, app data)
Remember to charge battery before making changes (removing stock apps or installing a custom rom)

If you don't like the changes you made, or did something you shouldn't have, restoring original software or Stock rom is not too hard
see my Using RSD Lite to flash a .SBF to restore (Stock Rom)
    or DX (MB810) ezSBF 2.3.4/4.5.621

    1. Root [ROOT] Framaroot, a one-click .APK to rootwatch
    2.Install/Use Droid modified X or 3 Bootstrap
    3. optional but Recommended Backup User Data some options below but not limited to...
    a. backup apps with titanium backup.
OpenTitanium Backup and press the "Options" hard-key. Then press "Batch." Run the Backup all User Apps tool and wait for the process to complete.
    b. backup texts and call log with sms backup +
    c. Bookmark Backup Open "Backup Bookmarks" and backup your browser bookmarks.
    d. verify that contacts are backed up/ syncedor Import / Export Contacts to SD Card
    e. Make a Nandroid Backup
    4. Install a rom in ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM)

Some roms in my list 621 roms
    Liquid ICS v2.1 - 2/15/14 is popular
CyanogenMod 11 (Unofficial) For Droid X-
is newest but probably not a good first rom yet
