Huh, I've never had to update superuser. Don't see why you couldn't just paste it into your /system folder over the old one though. Or is some app trying to get an updated version? No clue.

What does? Your phone? Or an app? Never seen this, so I'm not entirely sure.

EDIT: Lemme guess, you have rom manager installed or something? You can just extract it and move the files to /system yourself with rootexplorer I believe.

I see, I see. Way I see it, you shouldn't need to update, but I don't see why you couldn't us root explorer and do it. If anything just make a quick backup.

if you have rom manager and advanced settings enabled you can download under roms/extra and rom manager will update it for you.

Did you get this sorted out? I saw this thread when it first came out, didn't quite get what you meant the first time i read it though...

Just sbf'd and now i get it...

To be clear, there are two parts to Superuser...

    • The Android Application which resides at: /system/app/Superuser.apk
    • The Linux Binary at: /system/bin/su (default) or /system/xbin/su (if you moved it there)

To update the app, do search for Superuser in the Market... It's published by ChainsDD. If your application update is unsuccessful, you may need to enter the following commands into adb shell/terminal,

    Code:
    $su
    #mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblock1p21 /system
    #rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
    #pm uninstall com.noshufou.android.su
    #mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblock1p21 /system
Then try to install again through the market.... should work now...

    To update the binary:
    1. open the updated Superuser application, and go to settings...
    2. scroll to the bottom, does it say "Su binary 2.3.1-ef"? If so, as of today, you should be up to date.
    3. Tap to check for updates anyways...

Now for that reboot to recovery error... i had gotten that error today when updating. I had just rooted through terminal, and placed my binary as /system/xbin/su... yet, after that error message, i now had the updated binary placed as /system/bin/su, so the binary update was successful... i just deleted the old su that i had in /system/xbin, and move the new one from /system/bin to be where i like it back in xbin cause i always seem to besbf'ing and then updating to 2.2...
