Posted this once so it might double post. I downloaded the program to check the md5 but didnt understand it. I figured if it was posted on this forum and it worked for other people it was fine. Why would it be bad but still work for other people? So now what?

try MD5 Checker it's a little simpler, use to verify the hash/checksum to ensure the file integrity is correct with the matching file.

The MD5 checksum for a file is a 128-bit value, something like a fingerprint of the file.

Why would it be bad but still work for other people?
that's why you use md5 checksum, to verify that the file downloaded correctly

    bootloader 30.04
    code corrupt
I think you need to flash .sbf now

    MD5 (1FF-p3a_shadow_cdma_shadow-user-2.3.4-4.5.1_57_DX8-51-120111-test-keys-signed-Verizon-US.sbf.zip) = 06bbf7ee86c0ed64654e14bcb84c4aed

you should always verify md5 checksum on large files

Ok, just rooted from stock .621 and root took perfectly. I have installed Liquid Smooth v1.5 and that is working pretty good also. What other ROMS can be installed without having to revert back to a previous version? I've seen someone say CM9 works, but can any GB ROMS be installed on top of this root method? Thanks.

We have a stock 4.5.621 and I d/l and built the magic md5. The CD boots OK, so I am ready to go.

just wonder if this will kill ANYTHING that is on this unrooted Droid X? We have MyBackup Pro v 3.2.5 now, but am not sure if it is saving everything as the phone is not rooted now.

I guess this is a long way of asking if I can root without killing my apps and/or data?

Thank you. I guess our main reason to root is that we want to use MyBackup Pro to save EVERYTHING..apps and data. I guess it will do this if we are rooted, even if the apps are not "integrated".
