    CDMA to UTMS?

I am going to Germany here next month for Oktoberfest (yay!) and I was just wondering if there is any way to "hack" my phone to get it to work with their networks over there. I have a feeling though it needs a completely different hardware radio but I am not 100% sure on this so I am simply asking on here =). I figure somebody on here has done it or tried it or may know somebody that has...

    Thanks!

    EDIT:
I forgot to put in there I have the DroidX rooted .596 stock rom

from what I can remember that is going to be a no. UMTS (is what you're talking about right?) is a gsm technology soooooooooooooo you'd need a new radio, unless you had a world capable phone that could access those bands

If you think you have bricked your phone... do this.... stop look around say a few curse words then take a deep breath because you haven't we can fix this haha

Thats what I thought. I just havent done a lot of research lately to see if the newer phones were cross compatible with a few tweaks. Thanks though!

Yeah, sorry, as cory said, you would need a global phone like the new DROID 3, the DX is CDMA only and the GSM requires a whole new radio completely different from the DX's radio... you could always buy a pre-paid phone when you get there for emergencies, that what we did when I visited there this past summer.

ahaha, sounds like a good plan lol. we had fun in Germany over the summer, its a blast. we had like 8 of use though, so we got 3 prepaid phones and just put all the other numbers in them, worked out great and cheap as well.
