    Status of Root?

I keep reading posts saying "Root WILL be achieved", then I hear some other guy has said that "Root may never be achieved". So which is it? Do we know or is it still "yet to be seen"?

There's so many posts talking about root possibilities on this phone, I can't figure out what the most recent information is. So... where EXACTLY are we in regards to gaining root and what EXACTLY do we KNOW at this point?

root will be achieved. but a lot of people are misusing the term to also mean "will be able to load/flash custom ROMs", which may not be the case. root, yes. custom ROMs, maybe.
    Respect is rule #1

Uughh.. That is my professional opinion.

Custom ROM's seems to be a resounding no. The locked and signed bootloader is gonna be rough to crack. Apparently it will intentionally corrupt the bootloader (brick the phone) if it doesn't match what is hard coded on the ROM. Changing bootloader, recovery etc will automagically brick it.

I think it's just a matter of time. There seems to be a lot of determination to get this done. "where there's a will there's a way"

Right, but that was just with the locked bootloader, which they still haven't got around. But now they include this eFuse thing which is a different beast altogether. Like I said, it has hardwired code on the ROM that will intentionally corrupt the bootloader if it doesn't match what is etched on it.

The eFuse self destruct scares the **** out of me lol. I won't be messing with that until (if) there is a safe, proven way to do it. I have a lot of respect for the Devs who sacrifice their DXs for this. I wont mind rooting right away tho

im totally a n00b here so don't laugh too hard at my post...

couldn't we just wait for the 2.2 OTA update and just use that info to see how the e-fuse reacts to being told what the new 2.2 flash is ok?

i mean then we could just do the same thing but tell it what WE say to do is ok... right?
