Since I am not all that familiar with the term deodexing myself, I looked for a good explanation of it, and found this:

I didn't have a specific question ready. Appbrain was suggested as an alternate backup tool and supposedly better/easier than Titanium. I haven't had any trouble with Titanium yet but it seems like there's a learning curve.
I'm still just treading water with the whole rooting thing. I haven't even installed a new ROM yet.
