Basically to dumb it down even further you download the .32 full sbf and the .34 patch.
Download RSDlite 4.9 to the computer
Go to the link to get z4root and put onto your sd card
    Download bootstrap, run a back-up
    then have fun?

Im running .34 on an unrooted DX and i am just trying to figure it all out before i root. Im new to all this so be kind.

    1) the sbf files! keep on your computer - these files are used in RSDlite to flash your phone back to stock even when you cant boot up properly
-anything done on 2.2.1 will call for the full 2.3.32 sbf here
    Droid X: 2.3.32 Full SBF
-and then the .34 upgrades here
TBH Patches: 2.3.340-System, Baseband, 2.3.340-Kernel, Bootloader
    (thanks TBH)

2)RSDlite 4.9 - simple google search will provide this program for windows. sbf files arent useful unless you have this.
--and of course a guide on how to use them
    http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/dr...ing-guide.html

    3) z4root - easy way to root if you have to sbf. keep on ur sdcard.
z4root download links / Get your root on here!

    4) bootstrap - need an alternate recovery for nandroid backups and restores and to use the .34 files. keep on your sdcard.
    http://koush.tandtgaming.com//motoro...XBootstrap.apk

    5) A charged battery! any modifications that result in you having to flash the sbf - you will be STUCK if your battery isnt properly charged (50% at least) and you cant charge it when its stuck loading.

    6) .apks of necessary apps (optional) i use titanium backup to restore apps after installing ROMs but if you wipe you dont have the app. just go into /data/app and copy the .apk(s) that you need and put on your sdcard for easy installation after a wipe.

Like always, neither I nor droidxforums take any responsibility to what you do to your phone.

this might be a bit much for anyone starting off with android so just take your time reading all relevant threads and feel free to ask any questions here.
Ok...I want to start by saying I am DroidX noob. My head is spinning with all this information. So, I am trying to setup my PC with the all right files/tools so that I can recover from any unforeseen incidents.

Is the Droid X: 2.3.32 Full SBF file the one that I want to download if I'm running 2.2.1?
Also, who should download TBH Patches: 2.3.340-System, Baseband, 2.3.340-Kernel, Bootloader? Anyone running 2.2.1?
One last question. Is it really easy to JACK your phone using Bootstrap to make a backups? It seems as though I a have seen numerous warnings about Bootstrap...so I'm a little nervous.

I had a Droid Incredible that I rooted, moded regularly, and unrooted (to give to my wife). So, I am not completely new to the wonderful world of hacking. But, the Droid X with the locked bootloader is a different beast.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I had
