ADB was giving me a bunch of trouble, I'm about to try this. Thought I'd share:
***Update: I tried this method and it worked fine. My only problem was I couldn't get the backspace button working in terminal emulator, but all that meant was I couldn't make any mistakes while entering the commands.
This version doesn't require ADB so if you're having problems with ADB, this is your video. Root was just released for the Droid X and I show you how to do it.
Credit for this goes to Sebastian Kramer, Birdman, [mbm] for the root instructions. Special thanks to Qoncept of Droidforums for saving me some time by writing the guide.
First set of commands:
cd /sqlite_stmt_journals
cp /sdcard/download/exploid ./exploid
chmod 755 exploid
I tried to redo it and now when I type in the 2nd command it says file is busy...
The same thing happened to me. I turned the phone off and on and then I was able to start over without the exploid busy message. Just finished the entire process.
I just tried Wireless Tether app. It worked. Does that mean the root worked? Without root I can't or am not supposed to be able to use the Wireless Tether app right?
