How to root Droid X WITHOUT ADB! (Video)

I of course take no credit for this, all credits are mentioned at the start of the video.

ADB was giving me a bunch of trouble, I'm about to try this. Thought I'd share:

***Update: I tried this method and it worked fine. My only problem was I couldn't get the backspace button working in terminal emulator, but all that meant was I couldn't make any mistakes while entering the commands.

This version doesn't require ADB so if you're having problems with ADB, this is your video. Root was just released for the Droid X and I show you how to do it.

    Files needed:

    Root files:

    http://www.wimervision.com/android/r...idxroot_v2.zip

    Software needed:
    Astro File Manager
    Terminal Emulator

Credit for this goes to Sebastian Kramer, Birdman, [mbm] for the root instructions. Special thanks to Qoncept of Droidforums for saving me some time by writing the guide.

    First set of commands:

    cd /sqlite_stmt_journals
    cp /sdcard/download/exploid ./exploid
    chmod 755 exploid

    Next set:

    ./exploid

    Last set:
    cp /sdcard/download/Superuser.apk /system/app/Superuser.apk
    cp /sdcard/download/su /system/bin/su
    cp /sdcard/download/busybox /system/bin/busybox
    chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
    chmod 4755 /system/bin/busybox
    rm /system/bin/rootshell
    exit

I used this method and it took about 5 minutes start to finish. Definitely seems like an easier way to do it.

After the the bluetooth on/off step, I typed in password and got it to turn into #, what do I do next?!?!

It still shows # at the beginning. Horrible video doesn't show that part.

As the video says, pause it and enter the last set of commands:

    Last set:
    cp /sdcard/download/Superuser.apk /system/app/Superuser.apk
    cp /sdcard/download/su /system/bin/su
    cp /sdcard/download/busybox /system/bin/busybox
    chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
    chmod 4755 /system/bin/busybox
    rm /system/bin/rootshell
    exit

And then unpause the video and follow the rest of the instructions (there is only 1 left)

The same thing happened to me. I turned the phone off and on and then I was able to start over without the exploid busy message. Just finished the entire process.

I just tried Wireless Tether app. It worked. Does that mean the root worked? Without root I can't or am not supposed to be able to use the Wireless Tether app right?
